Once again the Belfast and District Motor Club Ltd will promote the traditional and one of the most popular Short Circuit events on the racing calendar.
They will host rounds 4 and 5 of the Irish Superbike Championship on Monday the 25th April at the popular Co Down venue, Kirkistown Race Circuit.

The club is hopeful that with this year’s date being at the end of April it will bring good weather and that the 180 strong entry will put on a racing event that the club is known for.
As well as the normal championship classes the Club are also adding two additional races for the Classic racers with a field of 24 bikes entered so far.

With the support of Ards Borough Council and Ards Tourism, The Mayors Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the 2nd Superbike race and with a competitive field it is sure to be a hard fought race.

Competitors include Cameron Donald, and William Dunlop who will be on the Wilson Craig bikes, Michael Dunlop, David Haire, Gavin Johnston on the ex Keith Amor Superstock BMW, Matthew Percy,  local man Kirk Jamison, Clubman’s sensation Nico Mawhinney on an ex TAS Superstock machine, Gareth Keys, Denver Robb and B & D chairman Johnny McCay will be riding the Sorrymate.com Superstock machine that he will be competing on at this year’s NW200

Supersport is always a hold your breath class and this year is no exception. This year we have William Dunlop, Cameron Donald, Michael Dunlop, Clubman’s hot shot Carl Phillips, Jamie Patterson, Alistair Kirk,  Gary Jeffers, Gary Robinson, Chris Thompson, Declan Hoey and Timothy Elwood among the competitors. In the new Junior Superstock class we have Marty Lennon, Stephen Donnelly, Roy Beattie and Noel Murphy.

The Supertwins class has seen an explosion in popularity over the last few years and this year’s championship will be the closest yet with Marty Lennon, Malcolm McKinney, Michael Sweeney, Tommy Heaphy, newcomer Chris Hillis, Gary Fowler, Mark Shields, Coyles Wright and Emmet McKnight all fighting for glory.

The 250GP and Supersport 400’s will share a grid, but as two separate championships. This year we have the addition of William Dunlop who will be pushed hard by Mark Hanna, Richard Glasgow, Thomas Lawlor, Paul Robinson, Brian Mateer, Barry Davidson, Ciaran Donnelly and Chris Blair (MCUI-UC. President).

In the Supersport 400’s we have among the entries Johnny McCay, Joe Phillips, James Chalke, Daryl Duffy, Cathal Phelan, John McAllister, Andy McAllister, Kris Walsh and Morris Haggerty.

The Classics are made up of 250cc, 350cc, 500cc and 1000cc machines. Most noticeable entries are James Conroy, Gary Jamison, Keith Costello, John Monteith, Sam Kinkead, Chris Blair, John Scott, Nicky Lamb, Pete Simpson, Barry Davidson, Alex McVicker and Bill Smyth.

The 125GP races always sees a good mix of up and coming future talent as well as veteran GP riders and this year promises to see some upsets with young teen sensation Korie McGreevy out for glory. Joining him we have NW 200 winner Paul Robinson, Ciaran Donnelly, Karen Hadden, Bruce Moulds, Jason Lynn, Sam Wilson, Luke Johnston and Malcolm Love.

This year see’s a massive Sidecar entry with outfits from Scotland also joining the mix and no doubt they will be trying to take the victories away from the local racers.

Entry will be £10 per person with children under 12 getting in free (when accompanied by an adult)
This Easter we will be supporting the National Association of Riders with Disabilities and they will have a stand in the paddock so please give generously.

Practice to get underway at 9.00am and as with all events promoted by the Belfast and District Club Ltd all classes will get sessions of both untimed and timed practice.
First race scheduled to start at 1pm
