Ballygowan rider Michael Pearson could not hide his delight at the weekend after being awarded the Ian King Memorial Award at the Motorcycle Union of Ireland Ulster Centre Awards in Belfast.
Pearson, who made his rookie year on the Irish Road Race scene in 2009, took the award after he was disclosed as the best newcomer in the Supersport 600 class in the Irish Championships. Michael Pearson: "Its always nice to be awarded any Trophy, but this award is particulary pleasing, and there are quite a few big names already on the trophy, so to have my name on it is very humbling to say the least". Willis Marshall: (Manager) "This is a very nice award for Michael to recieve and it is all the more important to myself as the late Ian King was a personal friend of mine. The Supersport 600 class is very conpetitive so for Michael to be named the best newcomer in that class in 2009 speaks volumes for itself".
