Short Circuit leaves Pearson out off Faugheen
An electrical problem on Michael Pearson's GSMCC 600 Honda, has left the Ballygowan rider out of this weekends Faugheen Road Races.
The problem, which was only diagnosed late on Friday evening, meant it was to late for the Pearson camp to repair the gremlin, which was only found out by chance after Pearson had taken the Honda to the dyno on Friday morning.
With time against the team, it was unrealistic to try and get the bike repaired, with the parts needed not due to arrive for at least another 24 hours.
With Pearson due to make his Faugheen debut, it was understandable that the former Irish Superbike Champion was gutted to have missed the chance to take in the meeting, with Pearson now fully focused on next weekends Mid Antrim 150.
Michael Pearson: "What can I say.....It was just by chance that we found out there was a problem with the electrical system, and only for a trip to Derek Young's Dyno, we may have been en-route to Faugheen, and who knows what might have happened.
Of Course I am disappointed but it is better to find out now than six hours down the road at Faugheen.
I was only going to ride the 600 this weekend as I have never seen the circuit before, so that's about it for another year.
I am gutted for Dave Coughlin of the Faugheen Club who was looking after all my requirements this weekend. I feel that I have let him down, but he understands the situation I am in".
Willis Marshall: (Team Manager) "Its another disappointment for the Team, but you can not count on these things from time to time. We knew the bike was a bit down on power, but when we checked it this morning, it was only putting out 112bhp....down about 16bhp.
The lads are working away at the bike this weekend and she will be ready for the Mid Antrim next weekend, as it is essential that Michael gets a good run on her before the Ulster Grand Prix.
The Team would have loved to have been at Faugheen and we wish the Faugheen Club every success on Sunday".
