The North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club Ltd is delighted to launch the 56th Around A Pound Tandragee 100 on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd April 2016.

“The circuit’s in deepest, greenest rural Northern Ireland, with a paddock that’s more gently waving grass and blizzards of blossom than tarmac and caravans…When you ride the circuit, what strikes you is how beautifully it all flows together, each corner feeding into the next one…The circuit really does have everything: tight corners; a long main straight; and fast corners you take in fourth or fifth gear with the throttle wide open…and what you can’t see from a track map is the way the circuit rises and falls the whole time.” (Patrick Walker, Works Racing)

Just a few of the stars you can expect to see at the Tandragee 100 National Road Races on

Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd April 2016 include William Dunlop, Ryan Farquhar, Dan Kneen, Derek McGee, Micko Sweeney, Derek Sheils and rising star Malachi Mitchell-Thomas.

William Dunlop, 2015 Supersport & Superbike Irish National Superbike Champion, National Road Racer of the Year and Winner of Duke Road Race Rankings for 2015, a 30 year old road racer from Ballymoney, has always had a passion for road racing, after all he grew up in a Dunlop household! William will ride CD Racing bikes in the First Open, the Supersport 600 and Senior Open Races. William took 1st in the Supersport 600 Race, 2nd in the First Open and clinched his first Tandragee 100 Senior Open Feature Race win in 2015.

Ryan Farquhar is the most successful national road racer in history, notching up over 200 victories throughout his career, including Man of the Meeting in 2015. The 40-year-old will be riding a Superstock-spec BMW S1000R throughout the season with the International Energy Group (IEG) his title sponsor. He will also once again campaign the SGS KMR ER6 Kawasaki in the Supertwins and a 250 TSR Honda in the 250 GP Race.

Dan Kneen will return to Tandragee for the second time after winning Man of the Meeting in 2014, this time on Mar-Train racing bikes. The Lisburn based outfit are entering their second year as the official Yamaha UK road racing team and will be hoping to continue the momentum they found at the tail end of 2015. Dan is excited the season is finally here and can't wait to get a race under his belt for Mar-Train: “the bikes are mega, a lot of hard work

and preparation has gone in and I'm enjoying working with Andy and the boys." The 28 year old Manx man was 4th in the 2014 Tandragee 100 Supertwin Race, 9th in the Supersport Race, 1st in the People’s Race Open Race and 1st in the feature Tandragee 100 Open Race.

Derek McGee the “Mullingar Missile” finished off the 2015 season with three MCI Southern

Centre Championships, 600, Superbike and Supertwin, a Supertwin International win at the Ulster Grand Prix, Irish and Ulster Supertwin Champion, and he was also third in the Irish

Superbike Road Race Championship. The 29-year old will ride a TAS Racing-prepared BMW Superstock machine sponsored by Noel Williamson, who hails from Portglenone but runs a plastering business in Swords near Dublin, where he has lived for the past 20 years.

Ever popular Skerries man Michael ‘Micko’ Sweeney, remains a big hit with the fans both sides of the border. The triple Manx GP winner, Sweeney at Tandragee in 2014 had a 1st place in the Sally McNally’s 250 GP race and a 4th place in Supertwins race.

Cookstown Burrows Engineering teammates Malachi Mitchell-Thomas and Derek

Sheils recently completed their first laps of 2016 on 1000cc machinery at Kirkistown. Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Malachi Mitchell-Thomas (a newcomer to Tandragee) is 20 years old from Bolton in north-west England and is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in road racing.

Derek Sheils, challenged William Dunlop for the Irish National Superbike crown last year, losing the championship by only six points after a string of impressive rides. “I missed the Irish Superbike races at Kells and Tandragee last year and that cost me the title,” said Sheils, who was the 2013 Superbike champion…“I’ll be aiming to win the title in 2016.”

Patrick Walker, John Leigh Pemberton and Mark Parret will also return again this year for the third time on the 500cc Works Racing Nortons – Patrick wrote of his time “It’s hard to describe just how good our Tandragee race weekend was. Driving home afterwards, I felt like a kid who’d just had the biggest weekend of his life.”

Entries also include Davy Morgan, Tommy Henry, Seamus Elliott, Damien Horan, Gareth Keys, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Paul Gartland, Rob Barber, Nigel Moore, Timothy Elwood, Colin Stephenson, Barry Davidson, Paul Robinson, Stephen ‘Cargo’ Car, George Scott, Vic Allen, Ian Pert, Wayne Kirwan, Dennis Booth, Paul Gartland, Robert McCrum, Trevor Stewart, Gavin Brown, Philip Shaw, Sarah Boyes, Yvonne Montgomery, Stephen Morrison, Thomas Maxwell and Jamie O’Brien, Club Members Robert Cairns (and his son Lee Cairns who is a newcomer), Stephen Davison, Gary Hutton and Ian Thompson, Paddy McColgan and many more.

Some of the up and coming stars include Rhys Hardisty from Aborgaveny, and Connor Behan, etc who could perhaps upset some of the regulars. Newcomers include Callum

Laidlaw, Matthew Rees, Paul Williams, Sam Johnson, Darryl Tweed, Martin Lowe, Shaun Wynne, Steven Proctor, Stephen Tobin, Paul Swords, Forest Dunn, Jamie Williams and Rob Livesgy, etc.

The Tandragee 100 Course was, in 2013, voted 4th Best Road Racing Course in the World (only the TT, Macau & UGP came higher) and the word is spreading as much loved Italian rider, Dario Cecconi (who thinks of Tandragee as his ‘home’ circuit) will be joined for the first time this year the ever popular duo Michal Dukuopil and Veronika Hankocyova from Czech Republic who together will provide a truly international flavour to this year’s event.

This year’s whopping Tandragee 100 Entry includes approximately 350 entries with competitors hailing from Northern Ireland (69), South of Ireland (39), England, Wales, Scotland & Isle of Man (35) and Europe (3) with over 36 circuit newcomers, this is proof that road racing is still very much alive and kicking in the shallow hills of County Armagh!

As always costs have risen this year however we are delighted to be able to offer a prize fund of over £10,000! All the races this year will be Irish/Ulster Championships Races with the exception of the First Open Race and Forgotten Era which will be non-championship events.

The other companies and individuals who have helped the Club, in either a financial or material way, to make the Tandragee 100 happen, are also greatly appreciated. In particular we’d like to acknowledge the Officials, First Aid, Marshals and Flag Marshals without who we couldn’t run the event. To these, and many others, the Club owes a great deal of thanks and if we have left anyone out we can only apologise.
