Jack Corry, Press Officer WCR.

With the first road race of the season, the Cookstown 100 just a week away, Wilson Craig Racing rider Derek McGee got his first feel of the new WCR Honda’s at a wet and blustery Kirkistown recently, and the 28 year old Mullingar rider was delighted with the progress. “Running in the Superbike was the main aim of the test, and with plenty of laps under his belt, Derek took the 600 Supersport on track, and again he was delighted with the handling of the Honda.

“I really loved the 600, and while it was the first time that I have ridden a Honda, it is the best 600 I have ever ridden. I ran in the Superbike and it already feels great, and I can’t wait for Cookstown” Wilson was also delighted with the performance “The bikes are flying and I am really happy with the way the early season tests are going”

It was off to Bishopscourt for more testing, this time under race conditions, and again Derek took full advantage of the top class entry to get more valuable laps in at the Enkalon Trophy Meeting. Easter Monday was another chance to get valuable track time in, and again Derek did so under race conditions, with Cookstown in mind

The team are delighted to announce two new Sponsors, with Ollies Place in Skerries and N.J Doyne Construction, coming on board for the season.

Ollies Place in Skerries is a well-known bike supporter’s pub, which plays host to a number of fundraising functions during the year. Along with his other pub next door called the Snug, Ollies provides excellent food, and it is famous for its lively atmosphere and cocktail menu. Ollie Grimes said “I am delighted to be involved with Derek and Wilson Craig Racing, as a bike supporter, it is a pleasure to be involved with such a talented rider, and a professional team”

N.J. Doyne Construction specialise in Steelfixing, Formwork and Concrete Placement across the UK from Wales to Kent and all across the south coast, carrying out work in the Water Sectors, Energy and Sea Defences. They carry out projects ranging from £15k to £15m and the “forward thinking” company are delighted to be sponsoring Derek.

“We are pleased to be involved with Derek and his team for the coming season. Derek has shown that he has the talents to go to the top, and N.J.Doyne are delighted to be sponsoring such a talented rider” Said Noel Doyne.

The team would like to extend its gratitude to Steve Harnett from North Dublin Motorcycles, for his outstanding efforts during the past few weeks.
