The Mayor’s Trophy race is the feature event on the Belfast and District Motor Club’s packed Easter Monday programme at Kirkistown.
The County Down meeting on the Ards Peninsula is one of the most popular races on the calendar and hosts the second round of the Irish Short Circuit Championship, following on from Saturday’s season-opener at Bishopscourt.
Entries include Jamie Hamilton on John Burrows’ Cookstown B.E. Racing machines, Derek Sheils on the BikeBits NI Kawasakis, Scotsman Keith Amor (Rig Deluge BMW), Derek McGee on the Craig Honda machines plus Penz13.com BMW’s Stephen Thompson and Hungarian rider Sandor Bitter, who is riding the T&R Motorsport BMW for Crumlin man Thompson this season.
The Mayor’s Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the second Superbike race on Monday and an excellent day’s racing is in store, with entries also including short circuit frontrunners Jamie Patterson, Jason Lynn, Robert Kennedy and Christian Elkin.
In addition to the Superbike and Supersport events, a full programme of races will be run, including Supertwins, Pre Injection/250GP, SSP400, Moto3 and Sidecars.
Admission is £10 with children under 12 admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
Practice is scheduled to get underway at 9am with the first race due off around 12.30pm.
