It is with much sadness that the Manx Motor Cycle Club has learned of the death of one of it’s most active Ambassadors, Ron Halem, perhaps better known to all as ‘Gold Star Ron’.
Hailing from the USA, Ron was an enthusiastic supporter and active sponsor of the Manx Grand Prix over a number of years, latterly preparing and shipping over machines to be raced in the Classic races at the Manx Grand Prix and had been an ambassador for the ‘Manx’ publicising the races and encouraging fellow Americans to take up the challenge of the Mountain Course in the Isle of Man.
Former Manx Grand Prix Competitor Paul Owen paid this tribute to Ron “It was a pleasure to call you a friend, a true gentleman and full of life, you had the heart of a lion, I will never forget you, riding your bike was a honour, just sorry Ii didn’t get you that 100mph lap for you, we were so close, I liked calling you rocket Ron and your passion to the Goldie and racing will never be forgotten.”
The Manx Motor Cycle Club pass on their sympathy and condolences to Ron’s family and friends at this sad time and are most appreciative of his involvement with the Manx Grand Prix.
