Ben Wilson travelled across the Irish Sea to take part in the Annual Sunflower Trophy meeting at Bishopscourt at the weekend where he recorded five podium finishes in his races for Gearlink Kawasaki.

Ben was reunited with his 600cc Supersport machine and despite the fact he had not ridden it this season he was soon back on the pace. He qualified in third place to start his two Supersport races from a front row grid position and completed the first race in third place. Later in the day he went out for the second race which was run over eight laps of the 1.415-mile course and this time he was dicing for the lead with teammate Glenn Irwin. The two Gearlink Kawasaki bikes pulled well clear of the pack and Ben completed the race just a fraction of a second behind Irwin for second place and well ahead of old rival Alastair Seeley in third.

Ben said: "I really enjoyed being back on the little 600 and I can’t thank Gearlink Kawasaki enough for giving me the chance to ride it again."

Ben then went on to contest the two Superbike Pro races on the Superbike he has ridden all year for Gearlink Kawasaki finishing second behind Danny Buchan each time. He then rode in the feature race, The Jas Finlay Sunflower Trophy event which was run over 10 laps and got the hole shot at the start. But he was pushed wide by Irwin who then crashed causing the red flag to halt proceedings. At the restart Ben once again took up the lead which he held for three laps. But despite all his efforts he was unable to stave off the attentions of Danny Buchan who managed to make a pass on Ben and went on to take the win with Ben right behind in second place.

"We all had a great time at Bishopscourt; I have to thank Gearlink Kawasaki for the hard work put in this weekend to make sure the bikes were in pristine condition."

This concludes Ben's race programme for this year but he will keep us posted on his future plans.
