Seven race starts six race wins just missing the full set finishing second in one race by the merest of margins of 0.350 of a second, Bardney's Ivan Lintin was certainly the man on a mission at the Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup Road Races at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough, the final European round of the Duke Road Race Rankings 2014.
Riding the Taylor Lindsey Racing Honda Superbike he clinched the feature race of the weekend, the Steve Henshaw Gold Cup, his name is now inscribed next to previous winners who names are now part of road racing history including, Geoff Duke OBE, John Surtees OBE, Phil Read MBE, Tony Jefferies, Giacomo Agostini, Barry Sheene MBE, Mick Grant, Steve Henshaw, Carl Fogarty MBE, Nick Jefferies, David Jefferies, John McGuinness, Ian Lougher, Guy Martin, Ian Hutchinson, Ryan Farquhar and Michael Dunlop.
In addition to lifting the 'Gold Cup' the quiet unassuming Lincolnshire rider, also won the David Jefferies Trophy as overall winner of the Supersport 600 Races and the Lee Pullan Trophy after achieving the double in the SuperTwins races. He was also the overall winner in the Superbike races, again taking the chequered flag in both races.
Ivan's six wins and second place elevates him to second place in the Duke Rankings up four places from sixth.
However his Yorkshire rival James Cowton who like Ivan is becoming an Oliver's Mount specialist didn't have the best weekend of his 2014 racing season suffering machine problems, even so he achieved five top six places including two podiums and he now moves to the top of the rankings having been in second place since round 19, the Dundrod 150 Road Races.
