Belfast Telegraph

Isle of Man rider Dan Kneen secured more Superbike glory for John Burrows’ Cookstown BE Racing team with a brilliant double at the Carole Nash Kells Road Races on Sunday.

The Braddan man has set the Irish national scene alight this year, taking victories on his first appearances at Cookstown and Tandragee and continuing his impressive form on his debut at the Co Meath meeting, which was back on the calendar for the first time since 2011.

Kneen, who qualified in third place on the GSX-R1000, opened his account with a dramatic triumph in the Open race, when Derek McGee crashed out at the final corner while challenging for the race win.

Skerries rider Michael Sweeney was promoted to second place and Jamie Hamilton completing the podium places on the Wilson Craig Honda.

Kneen went on to complete his brace with an all-the-way win in the Grand Final from Sweeney and Hamilton.

Mullingar’s Derek McGee won the Supersport 600 race on his Yamaha from Hamilton, while Cheshire’s Connor Behan took victory in the Supertwin clas from McGee and Hamilton.

A nip-and-tuck 250cc race saw Sweeney (Burrows Honda) holding on to win by 0.7 sconds from Elliott, while Sam Dunlop took the spoils in the 125cc by around one second from William Cowden.
