Mondello Park has asked to meet with the MCI Short Circuit Committee and Fingal Motor Club with a view to seeing if a resolution can be found to the cancellation of Sunday's Irish Championship Race meeting at Mondello Park. The races were cancelled on safety grounds due to adverse weather and a double oil spill.
Speaking about the incidents Mondello MD John Morris said: "I wasn't at the event myself, but it seems a series of unfortunate circumstances coincided which meant the event was cancelled on safety grounds before any actual racing took place. It's now up to us along with the Short Circuit Committee and the Fingal Club to see if we can find an alternative date for an event for the many competitors who were inconvenienced over the weekend. Sometimes things like this happen in racing, but the important thing is that no one was hurt and we can all learn from events and will review planning for future events as a result. Spectators should also hold onto their tickets which will be honoured at a future Motorcycle event".
Mondello Park has already furnished Fingal Motor Club with possible dates and its hoped an official announcement will be forthcoming within the next 7 days.
