Preparations are well underway for the North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club Ltd’s 54th Around A Pound Tandragee 100 on Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd May 2014.

Ryan Farquhar, Keith Amor, William Dunlop, Sam Dunlop, Dan Kneen, Micko Sweeney, Club Member Shaun Anderson, Derek McGee and Jamie Hamilton are just some of the stars you can expect to see at the event.

The Tandragee 100 Course was, in 2013, voted 4th Best Road Racing Course in the World (only the TT, Macau & UGP came higher) and with over 320 rider entries this year from Northern Ireland, South of Ireland, England, Scotland, Isle of Man and Europe and with roughly 32 circuit newcomers, this is proof that road racing is still very much alive and kicking in the shallow hills of County Armagh!

As always costs have risen this year (to roughly £80,000!) however we are delighted to be able to offer a prize fund of over £11,100! All the races this year will be Irish/Ulster Championships Races including rounds of the Loanends/Enkalon Support Championships and for the first time the Avon Tyres Supertwins Championship, with the exception of the First Open Race (The People’s Race) which is sponsored by race fans and members of the public and is a non-championship event.

There will be several events leading up to the Tandragee 100, including the Annual Sponsored Walk in aid of the Injured Riders Welfare Fund around the track this Sunday (27th April) at 2pm, and the Tandragee 100 Supporters Club Static Bike Display, the on the Monday of race week (28th April) at 7.30pm at Tandragee Recreation Centre.

Tandragee 100 Practice will be on Friday 2nd May, with roads closing at 3.30pm. Saturday (Race day) will see roads closing at 10am, and the Parade Laps will kick start the day.

This year, the Parade Laps, will see the likes of Ray McCullough, Geoff McMullan and John Burrows, etc riding around the 5.33 mile circuit. The Club would also like to thank Adrian Craig for co-ordinating the impressive list of entries for the Parade Laps.

Entries for the Around A Pound Tandragee 100 also include regulars such as Davy Morgan (on an ex-MD Honda), Paul Cranston, Seamus Elliott, Andy Farrell, Sam Wilson, Dave Hewson, Wayne Kirwan, Denis Booth, Nigel Moore, Paul Robinson, Warren Reeve, Wayne Hall, Robert McCrum, John Scott, Freddie Stewart, Damien Horan, Dave Brough, Barry Davidson, Philip Shaw, Club Members Stephen Davison, Anthony McColgan, Michael Larkin, Gary Hutton and Joe Lockhart, etc.

Some of the up and coming stars include James Cowton, James Kelly, Mark Hanna, Shane Egan, Gareth Keys, Connor Behan and Alan Bonner, etc who could perhaps upset some of the regulars. There will also be three female competitors on the grid –Yvonne Montgomery, Sarah Boyes and Suzanne Douglas. Much loved Italian rider, Dario Cecconi (who thinks of Tandragee as his ‘home’ circuit) will be joined for the first time this year by his fellow countryman Davide Ansaldi.

For up to date information including spectator information and news please visit our web site: www.tandragee100.co.uk or Facebook or Twitter.

This year, for the second time, we will be broadcasting the race commentary live – spectators can use their smart phones or a PC to log on to http://radio-road-racers.com/ and keep up to date with the racing.

If you require Disability Access Badge please contact the Race Secretary, Mrs Sheila Sinton, MBE Tel: 02838 841367.

The North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club, would welcome everyone to the event, and would ask spectators who attend, to please buy a programme, support the club in any way possible, and drop any loose change in the buckets to help keep the event alive…any support is greatly appreciated.

The Tandragee 100 would like to thank everyone for their support, including the hard work by the Tandragee 100 Supporters Club, to Gerry and Siobhan Rice at Around-A-Pound for their continued support, to Armagh City and District Council, to the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and a massive thanks to all the other sponsors and those who help make the race possible, and of course, the public who attend. Thanks also to the help of dedicated club members we have been able to put together what promises to be a first class event in 2014.

The other companies and individuals who have helped the Club, in either a financial or material way, to make the Tandragee 100 happen, are also greatly appreciated. In particular we’d like to acknowledge all the Officials, the Marshals and Flag Marshals without whose voluntary contribution we couldn’t run the event. To these, and many others, the Club owes a great deal of thanks and if we have left anyone out we can only apologise.

Competitions

This year ONE of our Race Programmes will have a message somewhere inside. If yours is the winning programme it will contain details of how to collect your prize of VIP hospitality pass for two people and one official Club Polo Shirt. The VIP Pass is not available to purchase and is therefore only available to a select number of individuals. Please support the event by buying a Programme and you’ll be in with a chance.

For the first time this year the Club have also teamed up with Rhubarb Boutique, Portadown, who have dressed their shop window to showcase the Tandragee 100 over the two weeks in the lead up to the event.

Rhubarb, the largest independent boutique in County Armagh, owned by James Graham, has been open for over 2 years in West Street, Portadown. Rhubarb’s ethos is very much one of ‘shop local’ and were delighted to take the opportunity to help promote a local community event in this way. James and his team are keen to highlight the choice available in Portadown market town centre. Rhubarb, for example, has over 20 international labels including French Connection, White Stuff, Seasalt and the even more exclusive Spanish label ‘Surkana’ and Silvian Heach from Italy. Anne Forsythe, Club Secretary commented “Rhubarb’s relaxed, warm and friendly atmosphere made it a pleasure to shop in.”

Watch out on the ‘Rhubarb Boutique, Portadown’ Facebook Page for the chance to win an exclusive VIP Hospitality Pass for two people to the Tandragee 100!
