Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness is ‘thrilled to bits’ after a new stamp and coin collection in his honour was unveiled by the Isle of Man Post Office.

The 20-time TT winner received a wonderful birthday present when he was shown the stunning new stamp sheet, bursting with action photos and a full list of his victories so far, and had even more reason to celebrate when he was presented with a birthday cake complete with an image of the sheet on the top!

The sheet is part of a new collection honouring the Morecambe Missile’s incredible record around the TT course. He took his first victory in 1999 and last year, at the end of a hard-fought Senior TT, secured his 20th win. He heads into this year’s TT still as the man to beat around the legendary Mountain circuit.

Also commemorating his tremendous record is a brand new, legal tender Isle of Man 50p coin, minted by Pobjoy Mint, which is available in a wallet or special gift pack.

For the true fan, however, the limited edition collection is a must. It features not only the coin and the stamp sheet, but also a special commemorative cover, individually numbered and personally signed by McGuinness. There is also the full story of his first 20 wins, and loads of astounding photos, all courtesy of renowned road racing photographer Stephen Davison.

Speaking while in the Isle of Man for the media launch of the 2014 TT, John said: ‘I am thrilled to bits, it has really lifted my spirits. You know you have made it when the Isle of Man Post Office issues stamps in your honour!’

Maxine Cannon, General Manager, Isle of Man Stamps & Coins, said: ‘John McGuinness is a true legend at the TT and is fully deserving of recognition. We hope his many fans will agree the sheet, stamp and limited edition collection are a real celebration of an amazing road racer.

‘We were really pleased to be able to reveal this commemorative collection on his birthday, and delighted he was so pleased. This issue marks his first 20 TT wins, and we all look forward to many more.’

The John McGuinness – The First 20 TT Wins stamp sheet , costing £10.11, can be purchased from the Regent Street Post Shop in Douglas now as well as online at www.iomstamps.com, where you can also pre-order the limited edition collection, costing £35 (limited edition of 1000), and 50p coin, costing £3.95 in a gift pack.
