Jeremy McWilliams is set to blow off the winter cobwebs at Bishopscourt this weekend as part of his preparations for the Vauxhall International North West 200 in May.
McWilliams is expected to join Ryan Farquhar’s KMR Kawasaki team at the Temple Club’s meeting in Co Down, which includes Scottish rider Keith Amor and young prospect Connor Behan from Cheshire.
Cyprus-based Amor is making his comeback this season and will ride a Kawasaki Supertwin machine prepared by Farquhar with backing from SGS International at the North West and Isle of Man TT.
Farquhar himself is also returning to the saddle in 2014 to contest the Supertwin class at selected events and will have his first outing on the roads at the Tandragee 100 in May, when the 38-year-old will also ride Roger Winfield’s Paton in a test run prior to the Classic TT meeting in August.
Past Grand Prix master and Rivamoto Honda World Supersport team manager McWilliams claimed his first victory on the roads at the North West 200 last year and will make his third appearance at the north coast meeting in May.
The KMR Kawasaki riders will be out in force at Bishopscourt, where a strong line-up also includes Portadown man Marshall Neill, Waterford rider Brian McCormack, Gerard Kinghan, Denver Robb and current Irish Superbike champion Nico Mawhinney from Castledawson.
Bishopscourt circuit manager, Roy Biggerstaff, said: “Jeremy has made enquiries for an entry for Saturday and that would mean the whole KMR Kawasaki team would be there.
“We’ve a decent entry overall for the first race of the season at Bishopscourt and young Nico Mawhinney and Brian McCormack will also be on the grid, plus we’ve got Gerard Kinghan and Marshall Neill.
“Davy Morgan is coming as well and he’ll be out on the ex-Michael Dunlop Hunts Honda Superbike,” he added.
“We’ve a good line-up for the Supersport races with the likes of Carl Phillips, Jason Lynn, Christian Elkin, Luke Johnston and the Patterson boys, Jamie and Ross, plus Mark Conlin, so we’re looking forward to a good day.”
Racing at Bishopscourt on Saturday is due to get underway at 12 noon, with practice from 9am. Admission is £10.
Gates will be open from 3pm on Friday for competitors, with scrutineering taking place from 7pm to 9pm.
On Saturday morning the circuit will be open from 7.30am.
