Former double Adelaide Masters Series champion Brian McCormack, will make a full time return to the series for 2014 having put together his own team.

The Waterford man will race at all Adelaide Masters Series events with the aim of winning back his crown and breaking the Kawasaki dominance of the grid, riding his newly acquired Honda Fireblade. The possible addition of a Supersport machine could see him also chase that series and a second double winning season.

Having concentrated on a road racing programme in 2013 with only occasional circuit outings 'Big Mac' will this year return to the Adelaide Insurance Services backed Adelaide Masters Series full time. 2012 was the last time that the Tramore native was regularly seen at the front of the Masters grids, in a season where he lifted both the Superbike and Supersport crowns.

This year McCormack will have a Superbike Honda at his disposal, the same bike which he rode to the runner-up spot behind Marshall Neill in 2011. The bike has been extensively upgraded with the support of Tom Fitzsimons of VTL and Jim Halligan of JTecSports and the former champion is looking forward to battling for the title once again.

“I'm familiar with the Fireblade from 2011 and with the work we have done to it I can’t wait to get out there”, said McCormack as he looked forward to the new season. “My aim is to be the main Honda rider taking the battle to the Kawasaki's, which seem to be taking over. With Derek Sheils, Damien Byrne, Cody Nally, and possibly Marshall Neill all out on ZX10's it will be a huge challenge this year.”

To help his cause McCormack will have long term backers VTL on board once again along with JTecSports, Road Racing Ireland and Kavanagh Christmas Trees. Looking after his Superbike will be long standing mechanics Davy and Cathal who have worked with McCormack for a number of years including during his 2013 stint with the KMR team.

The new Adelaide Masters Series gets under way with increased support from Motorcycle insurance Specialists Adelaide Insurance on April 5th and 6th at Mondello Park with live TV coverage on Mondello.TV the circuits own live streaming internet channel.
