The Launch of the 2014 Adelaide Masters Series took place today, February 8th, at the Adelaide Blackhorse Motorcycle Festival in the Kings Hall Belfast. Announcing details of the new season, which will see an increased investment by title sponsors and Motorcycle insurance specialists, Adelaide Insurance Services, were John Morris, MD of Mondello Park, Nichola Pearce, representing Adelaide, and some of the riders who will be in contention for the 2014 titles. As well as being watched by show visitors the championship launch was also covered live by motorcyclefest.tv the Motorcycle Festival's own live streaming channel.
During its relatively short history the Adelaide Masters Series has become firmly established as Ireland's biggest Motorcycle Racing Championship and continues to be the one championship that all of the top Irish racers want to win. For 2014 the series will once again consist of fourteen races over five events, four at Mondello Park and One at Bishopscourt. Speaking on the announcement of their continued support of the Adelaide Masters Series, Adelaide Insurance Services founder Sam Geddis said, "We're delighted to be investing in the Adelaide Masters Series for the fourth consecutive year and the association with this event has greatly helped us promote our motorcycle insurance product in Ireland. We've an exciting season ahead of us as we've increased our contribution towards the prize money to help attract more of the big names in racing and encourage these riders to take part in the full Adelaide Masters Series. " Mondello Park MD John Morris said: "it's hard to believe we're entering our fourth year of the Adelaide Masters Series with Adelaide Insurance and we are delighted to be continuing our very successful partnership. Adelaide's increased investment in the series will enable us to boost the already attractive prize fund. The increase, along with a reduction in cost due to a control on tyre numbers in the Superbike and Supersport classes, will help us to further grow the appeal of the championship. The new season will bring a number of detail changes, while the overall format of the series will remain the same.
Due to spectator demand the Grand Final will return to the timetable and will now be open to the top thirty riders from any class. In an effort to keep costs down riders in Superbike and Supersport will see the number of new tyres which can be used over a race weekend restricted and this should attract more riders into the Grand Final, as they will not need to put on new rubber to be in with a chance of winning the prize money. One of the biggest changes for this year will be TV coverage.
For 2014 all of the Mondello Park Adelaide Masters Series events will be broadcast live on Mondello.TV the circuit's own, very successful, web TV channel. Taking the TV production in house will allow all of the races on the Sunday of the event to be broadcast Live, including the support series. The footage from all of the races will then remain on the championship's web site,
www.adelaidemasters.ie where it can be watched over again. The main focus of the championship will remain on the Superbike and Supersport classes with the Superbike series in particular set for significant growth this year. A number of riders have purchased new machinery and others will be making a comeback to create the strongest Superbike field in the championship's history. The Supersport series looks likely to remain as strong as ever, with most of the front runners from 2013 returning. Details of individual competitor's plans will be revealed over the coming weeks.
