Entries are in; acceptance letters are in the post, the track is being prepared....!!! Yes it’s time for the 2nd of the Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club Road Race of 2013 to roar into Skerries.
It takes time, effort and dedication to host one racing event every year but Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club not content with just the one pull out all the stops and play host to the final race of the Irish Championship.... It’s time for the Killalane Road Races sponsored by Country Crest.
What does this mean for riders and spectators? Well we guarantee some incredible racing; unbeatable atmosphere and 3 Irish Championship titles will be won or lost on these roads in September.
The Killalane Road Races first took place in 1984 and in its short history some of road racing’s elite have ridden the circuit including Joey and Robert Dunlop, Mark Farmer, Steve Cull, Sam McClements, Phillip McCallen, Dave Leach, James Courtney and Owen McNally.
The Course is almost side by side with the Skerries 100 circuit and actually uses roughly 100 meters of the same road. At 3.6 miles long, the Killalane track is even narrower than the Skerries circuit in places, and at one section you will find a tree in the middle of the road!
This year we have entries flooding in from all across Ireland, UK and Europe. William Dunlop, Michael Dunlop, Derek Sheils,
Jamie Hamilton, Michael Pearson, Sam Dunlop, Michael Sweeney, Andrew Farrell, Sean Leonard, Michal Dokoupil and Veronika Hankocyová are just some of the entries so far.
We are proud that Road racing elite will be lining up on the Killalane Grid on the 7th and 8th September and yet again the overall prize fund for Killalane is a staggering €20,000.
This will be a weekend one surely cannot miss as we will celebrate Irish Champions and the end of a fantastic Road Racing year. A huge thank you to our main sponsor Country Crest and to the individual’s race sponsors who help make this happen year on year.
Will you be there???
