Expect a late change to the 2013 MotoGP schedule after the FIA moved the Grand Prix of Germany Formula One race to July 7, the same date as the German GP MotoGP race at the Sachsenring.

It's uncertain whether the F1 race will take place at Hockenheim or the Nurburgring. Those circuits have alternated hosting the German GP every year, and it's the 'Ring's turn in 2013. But that circuit is suffering through financial woes and may not be able to take its turn in the order.

Hockenheim and the Nurburgring are located in western Germany, while the Sachsenring is hundreds of miles away in the old East Germany. Still, it would be foolish for MotoGP to try to compete with F1 - the global colossus of motorsport - for spectator dollars, TV eyeballs and media coverage.

July 14 would be a logical spot for the German motorcycle Grand Prix since it's an open date on the MotoGP calendar. But a move to that date would create logistical migraines for MotoGP organizers and teams, as the next race is just a week later, an ocean and a cross-continental trip away July 21 at Laguna Seca.

Formula One and MotoGP have adhered to an unwritten agreement over recent years to try to avoid scheduling conflicts, especially races on the same continent. But future date clashes appear inevitable with F1's schedule growing to 20 races in 2013 and Dorna looking to add more races to its calendar in 2014 and beyond.
