Two Stroke Supporters Club; Awards Night; Sat 24th Nov; Ollies Bar Skerries @9.00pm
Ten years ago (13th) August, was a very sad day for motor cycle sport, when two of our top riders were killed in a crash at the North Monaghan road races, Gary Dynes and Andrew McLean both lost their lives in an opening lap incident.
It wasnt long after this tragic accident, that the “ Gary Dynes Foundation” was born. Thanks to the brain child of one of Garys best friends, Joe Wright, a life long supporter of his friend .
The idea of the club, was to keep the memory of Gary alive, and to support “Two Stroke racing.”.
At that time, the strokers were producing some excellent racing, both on the roads and on the circuits, but, they were quite expensive to run, and entries were on a downward spiral.
With the new club, the hard working members raised money, to be awarded as prize funds etc, as to keep the strokers alive!.
For circumstances beyond their control ,the club had to change their name, to what we know to day as “ The Two Stroke Supporters club”, and again, against the odds, have continued to raise thousands of pounds, and above all, keep the Two stroke machines on the track.
Over the years, the club has donated prize funds to many clubs, as well as having a season long championship, for both the 125 and 250 riders.
The club have also ran, their Mini Championship, which consisted of four rounds in the month of July !, so in some cases, riders were getting an added bonus!.
To date, 165,000 Euro has been raised and all paid out to clubs and Championships!, Monies kindly donated by memberships, sponsorship and fund raising functions.
Theres no denying, 2012 has been a tough year for everyone, and the wrath has been felt within the club, but Thanks to the dedication of the club committee, we are glad to be able to pay out monies to the Top Ten (Club Members) in both the 125 and 250 road race championships.
The 250s certainly were thin on thin ground, but nevertheless, produced some excellent racing, whilst the 125 grids actually increased this year!
It still amazes the club, that some Competitors feel, that 10 euro is too much to pay to join the club, but the hurt can only be felt in their own pocket, with the 10th finisher in the Championships receiveing 100 euro!, maybe next year, riders will think Twice, and join the club.
Now the question, everyone seems to be asking!, With the Club celebrating Ten years in action, and the fact that the two strokers are becoming less and less, Will the Club continue to Support the Strokers in 2013??.
With a Big YES, As long as the riders want to race the strokers, the club will endeavour to lend their support as long as they possibly can!
The Awards night for the 2012 Championships, takes place this Saturday night in Ollies Bar, Skerries, starting at 9.00pm. Riders can only claim their prize by been in attendance in Person!.

its hard to believe that the club have some €3,000 in cups and awards, which have been kindly donated to their humble club, and over the years, the winners have kept them in pristine condition although, the club does retain some of the Awards due to their high values, , but the club is more that willing to accomodate photo shoots etc.
