The 2012 D&GW 250cc Irish Short Circuit Championships resumes this weekend, at the Bishopscourt Racing Circuit in Co-Down, with the D&GW Championship races, supporting the Adelaide Masters Series, also at Bishopscourt.
After a two month break due to two rounds of the Irish Championships having to be cancelled at Kirkistown and Bishopscourt, this weekend will see round four get underway, with all the top runners in the D&GW Championship entered for this event.
Initially, the Adelaide Masters round at Bishopscourt was not pencilled in as a D&GW Championship round at the beginning of the season, but with the cancelations of the previous two rounds, the organisers decided to make this weekend an extra round for the championships.
It is unclear whether D&GW Racing will continue with this Championship in 2013 due to the cancelations and lack of entries for this years Championship.
Heading the Championship to date is Randelstown rider Nigel Percy on the D&GW 250cc Honda with two wins under his belt, and 142pts to the good. Kildare's Thomas Lawlor also on a 250 Honda lies in second place with one win and 119pts, and Castledawsons Nico MaWhinney on the second D&GW Honda in third place with three race wins and 111pts.
During the last meeting at Bishopscourt on the 9th June, Matthew Percy on the Roy Hanna Motors 250cc Honda was a double winner in the two 250cc races which also counted for the D&GW Championship. However, Matthew was not a registered rider in the D&GW Championship and the race wins where awarded to Nico MaWhinney who finished second to Matthew Percy in race one, and to Richard Glasgow who finished second in race two.
