D&GW Racing are pleased to announce that they will be backing the Irish 250cc Short Circuit Championships in 2012, after reaching agreement with the Motorcycle Union of Ireland.

After having spent the 2011 season backing the Irish 250cc Road Racing Championships, D&GW Racing will be putting all their effort into attracting an influx of 250cc machines at all ISB Championship Short Circuit events both in Northern and Southern Ireland.


The 2012 D&GW Irish Short Circuit Championships will run alongside the ISB Championship and be governed by the MCUI rules, with a total end of season cash prize fund of £5,000 being paid down to 10th place overall, which will be paid out at the end of the Championship.

In conjunction with the end of season prize fund, the first three Championship finishers will receive three very special Crystal Trophies, which have been forwarded in the memory of three former D&GW Racing riders.  The Mark Young Trophy  + £1000 will be awarded to the overall winner of the Championship, with second place receiving the Andrew Neill Trophy + £750.00 and third place the Wayne Hamilton Trophy + £600.00

The first three finishers in every race during the 2012 D&GW Championship will be awarded winners medals with a special medal for the fastest lap of the day, (The Joey Dunlop Medal) also presented.

An added bonus for those 250cc competitors who are registered for the Championship, will be a Prize draw at every meeting where one competitor will be in a position to win anything from 100% entry refund for the day, tyres, fuel, oil, and much more.

 

Speaking on behalf of D&GW Racing, Willis Marshall (co-ordinator) said that this will be one of, in not the best overall Championships, in the 2012 Irish Short Circuit season.

"A lot of interest has already been shown in this Championship, which would not be taking place other than for the continued generosity of D&GW Racing.    To be eligible for Championship points, trophies and medals, riders must make a one off registration fee payment of £20.00 (25 euro) which will be open all through the season. On receipt of the Registration fee, a riders information pack will be sent out to each competitor.  Only those riders registered on or before the date of a Championship round will be able to collect points and prizes associated with the D&GW Championship which will carry Grand Prix points scoring of 25-20-16-13-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1.  In the event of riders tying on the same number of points at the conclusion of the Championship, the worst points scoring round for those competitors will be deducted from their overall points tally, to determine their final championship positions.   This will have no effect on the MCUI Irish Short Circuit Championship standings.    A new website www.irish2stroke.co.uk  is currently being constructed which will carry all relevant news, Championship dates and Standings.

Hopefully this attractive 250cc Championship will encourage some old faces to make a return to the 250cc ranks".
