The Isle of Man TT offers some of the greatest racing you will see anywhere in the world, and with almost 40 miles of circuit there are plenty of amazing spots to watch the action.

Safety is paramount, which is why access to some areas next to the circuit is prohibited or restricted. Please make sure you pay attention to all signs and follow instructions from race officials and marshals.

Below you can find information about areas where access is prohibited or restricted, as well as downloading a list of the areas affected and maps and photographs clearly indicating where spectating is prohibited or restricted around the TT Mountain Circuit.

In the interest of safety, a review has been carried out of the Prohibited and Restricted areas located at various positions on the TT Course.

A small number of amendments have been made since the 2008 event, but all areas will be clearly marked and a location map clearly showing the effected areas will be displayed at all locations.


    “(1) No person or vehicle shall, during a closure period, enter or remain on a Prohibited Area, except to go to the aid of a person or to prevent further danger or risk to the competitors or any other person.

    (2) The extent of the Prohibited Area shall be clearly marked and indicated by notices bearing the words 'Prohibited Area'.”


    “(1) No person or vehicle shall, during the closure period, enter or remain on a Restricted Area other than race Officials, Marshals, Police Officers in the course of their duty or other persons or vehicles approved by The Clerk of The Course.

    (2) The extent of the Restricted Area shall be clearly marked and indicated by notices bearing the words 'Restricted Area'.”

Section 5(2) of The Road Races Act 1982 empowers a Constable or a Marshal to remove anyone found in such an area, using such assistance as may be necessary.

Schedule 4 of The Tourist Trophy Motorcycle Races Order 2009 gives a full detailed description of every prohibited or restricted area. A copy of the Schedule 4 can be downloaded below or viewed at main Police Stations, the Department of Transport or Department of Tourism offices.
