Title: PAUL GARTLAND AND ADAM McCLEAN JOIN ROD LEE/IAN MERCER RACING
Post by: Mago on May 29, 2016, 01:09:09 pm
Fermanagh rider Paul Gartland along with L/Derry rider Adam McClean will join forces for the remaining Irish Road Racing season as part of the Rod Lee/Ian Mercer Racing Team after a deal by both riders was agreed over the weekend after the Team lost their former rider Timmy Elwood, who after a very successful Horice Road Races in the Czech Republic last weekend, decided to hang up his leathers and concentrate on his business.

Gartland from Ederny in Fermanagh, is currently recovering from a racing accident during this years North West 200 races, and hopes to be fit to race again as soon as possible.  Gartland, a seasoned campaigner of the Irish Roads and in the International events such as the North West 200, Ulster Grand Prix, and Scarborough, will be given the use of the Ian Mercer Racing ER6 Kawasaki Supertwin for the remaining 2016 Road Races, a machine which has proved capable of running with the best in previous races.

20 year old Adam McClean from Tobermore in county L/Derry, will be given the use of the Road Lees Racing Truimph 675 for the Irish Supersport 600 road races, and is also a proven machine which the team believe McClean can put to good use.  McClean who previously came through the Irish 125 and 250cc Short Circuit scene and who was also a top runner in the Mondello Masters series has already in 2016, shown the extent of his capabilities on the road racing front, and one rider who is capable of breaking through the ranks to the top.

Both the Ian Mercer ER6 and the Rod Lee 675 Truimph, will be run under the one umbrella of Rod Lee/Ian Mercer Racing and will be maintained under the watchful eyes of both parties.

Both Rod Lee Racing and Ian Mercer Racing would like to wish Timmy Elwood every success in his business venture and extend a warm welcome to Paul Gartland and Adam McClean.

A further update on the Teams plans and race meetings will be released in the next few days.
