Title: Conditions improve for IMGold Manx Grand Prix Post by: Mago on August 28, 2015, 09:22:27 pm Billy Redmayne, the 2014 MGP Newcomer A Race winner, edged closer to his first ever 120mph lap in tonight’s qualifying for the IMGold Senior MGP with a lap of 119.489 on his Martin Bullock Motorsport GSXR 750 Suzuki. The Manx rider’s time was the fastest of the week to date.
Also going well in the latter session, which started at 7.20pm, was fellow 2014 MGP newcomer Malachi Mitchell Thomas, who Redmayne beat in the 2014 Newcomer A race. The Horwich rider clocked 117.660 on his Silicone Engineering ZX6R Kawasaki, which was the fastest Junior time of the evening. Across both sessions, riders took advantage of dry roads all round the Mountain Course to post their best times of the week. The SuperTwin and Lightweight machines had first use on the track and ahead of the session the grid was warned of sun dazzle, making a change from conditions earlier in the week, although high winds were reported at Ballacrye and up on the Mountain section. The SuperTwin/Lightweight session was away shortly after the scheduled 6.20 start and Rob Hodson, from the Wigan racing dynasty, was quickly on the pace with a pair of 112mph laps, comfortably the fastest in the SuperTwin class for the week. David Bell (110.324) and Andrew Farrell (109.680) can be pleased with their evening’s efforts in second and third while Charles Rhys Hardisty (109.391) and Nick Jefferies, the 1993 Formula 1 TT Race winner (108.226) completed the top five. Ryan Maher was the fastest Newcomer in the class with a creditable 104.879. Newcomer Mark Purslow had the honour of finishing the fastest Lightweight in the session with 103.595 ahead of Dan Hobson (103.074) and Alex Sinclair (102.997). Carlisle’s Martin Harrison came off at Governors in the Supertwin session and Alec Cotton had an accident at Sarah’s but both were reported to be unhurt by the travelling marshals who assessed them at the scene. |
