Armoy man Ian Simpson (42) came off in the Supersport 400 race at Church Bends and was airlifted from the scene by an Irish Coastguard helicopter. He was initially described as critical after suffering a reported head injury but his condition has improved and Kennedy was in upbeat mood after visiting Mr Simpson at the Royal Victoria Hospital on Sunday. Kennedy, who has known Armoy man Mr Simpson for ‘many years’, said the injured rider was ‘talking with friends and family’. “I went to see Ian in hospital and he has been moved out of intensive care, which is great news,” he said. “It’s all positive and looking good for Ian – he has a few fractures but these will heal up and I’m very happy after seeing him. “He is talking with friends and family and I had a good chat with him. Ian is in good spirits and the news is all positive. “I’m delighted that he is now well on the road to recovery.” |
