Courtsey of William Dunlop Racing William Dunlop completed a successful Southern 100 meeting in the Isle of Man on Thursday with a fine double success in the final days racing, with Dunlop snatching victory in the Steam Packet 125cc Race, and Harequin Oil Tanks 250cc Race.
Dunlops double, ended a week which saw the Ballymoney rider round of his best performance ever at the Castletown circuit with Dunlop adding the Mann Auto Car Sales 250cc race to his tally on Wednesday, giving the 23 year old his first hat trick of race wins at the popular races. William Dunlop: "Its probably been my most successful weeks racing to date, with four podiums from four starts, three of which were race wins.
I finished third after a bit of a debate in the Station Garage 125 race on Tuesday, but only after I lodged a protest after myself, Ian Lougher and Chris Palmer where told that we may be excluded from the results because of not slowing for a yellow flag on the last lap.
Common sense prevailed in the end and we were all re-instated into the results.
In the first 250cc Race on Wednesday, I managed to hold off Ian Lougher and Chris Palmer for the win, albeit by only 0.3 seconds, so that was a nice bonus for the team after all the problems we have had with the 250.
I then took a two second win over Palmer in Thursdays 250cc race which was really good, as i think the wee PJ Flynn/Ballygowan Honda is currently as good as she has ever been.
Then to round of the perfect week, I took the Steam Packet 125 race win also on Thursday when I beat Ian Lougher and Dan Sayle. I think I may have beaten my dads 125 lap record for the 125 class in that race, but the organisers have been unable to confirm that yet.
I am now in good form for this weekends Kells Road Races, and if it stays dry, I don't see anyone getting near me if the bikes keep going the way they are at the moment.
As I have said before, if this weekend is wet, then I won't be pushing it in any of the class's.
Hopefully the sun will shine and we can all have a great weekend. These results are for all the team and all my sponsors who after a couple of months when the results where against us, have stuck by me thick and thin".
